CSAG is in the planning phases of a new Water Research Commission (WRC) funded project to explore the limits to predictability of the climate system with a particular focus on seasonal forecasting in southern Africa. The project is “blue sky” in its approach and will develop a number of new analytical techniques and methodologies.
The intent of the project is to describe the interplay between determinism and chaos or stochasticism in the climate system at different spatial and temporal scales.
The project is being led by Prof. Bruce Hewitson with the collaboration of Dr Geoff Pegram, Dr Chris Jack, Dr Babatunde Babiodun and Dr Chris Lennard
