Two Fellowships in Climate Change Projections and Scenarios

16 April 2014

Two Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (PDRF) in Climate Change Projections and Scenarios have been established at the University of Cape Town.

The first PDR Fellow will be part of the ASSAR (Adaptation at Scale in Semi-Arid Regions) project, and is expected to undertake advanced research related to the use of climate data from multiple sources to inform adaptation in semi-arid areas.  This PDR Fellow will be part of the multi-disciplinary research group at UCT’s Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) and the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) working at the interface of physical climate modelling, impacts and adaptation.

The second PDR Fellow will be part of CSAG’s activities in the SASSCAL program (Southern Africa Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land-use) and based in CSAG. Research undertaken will be closely linked to the activities of the international CORDEX program.  The research will focus on the analysis of multi-model multi-method climate data from global models and downscaling for the development of robust regional climate change information for Africa, and complement a range of related activities in CSAG.
