Modathir Zaroug

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Modathir was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Change Projections and Scenarios in the ASSAR (Adaptation at Scale in Semi-Arid Regions) project, in October 2014. He is a part of a multi-disciplinary research group at the African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI)/ Climate System Analysis Group at UCT, interacting with research teams from Southern Africa, West Africa, East Africa and India. Modathir has a B.Sc in Civil Engineering (Sudan University of Science and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan). An M.Sc. in Hydroinformatics (UNESCO IHE for Water Education, Delft, Netherlands). A PhD from University of Khartoum and ICTP, Trieste, Italy. The title of his PhD is “Climate studies on the Nile Basin: case studies on land use sensitivity analysis in the White Nile, and impact of El Nino on droughts and floods in the Blue Nile”.  Modathir has an experience in hydrology and familiar with different hydrological models, and has also an experience in regional climate modelling. He is interested in African climate research.
