Dianne Scott

Dianne Scott was a human geographer, with a focus on urban studies, an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa and a senior researcher in the Africa Centre for Cities and Environmental and Geographical Sciences Department at the University of Cape Town. Her expertise lay in urban development in the global South, urban and environmental governance, science and society, political ecology, transdisciplinary knowledge production and critical social theory. Her research focus was on urban governance; urban development and climate change, knowledge production for coastal zone governance; and urban spatial knowledge management. She was co-Principal Investigator in the DST funded transdisciplinary Knowledge for Coastal Change project; the Climways research project focusing on the nexus of water governance and climate change comparing Durban and Cape Town; and the transdisciplinary Fractal research project the aim of which is to insert relevant climate information into the governance processes in sampled city-regions in southern Africa.
