Dianne Scott is a human geographer, with a focus on urban studies, who is currently an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa and a senior researcher in the Africa Centre for Cities and Environmental and Geographical Sciences Department at the University of Cape Town. Her expertise lies in urban development in the global South, urban and environmental governance, science and society, political ecology, transdisciplinary knowledge production and critical social theory. Her current research focus is on urban governance; urban development and climate change, knowledge production for coastal zone governance; and urban spatial knowledge management. She is currently a co-Principal Investigator in the DST funded transdisciplinary Knowledge for Coastal Change project; the Climways research project focusing on the nexus of water governance and climate change comparing Durban and Cape Town; and the transdisciplinary Fractal research project the aim of which is to insert relevant climate information into the governance processes in sampled city-regions in southern Africa.Personal Site
