Post-Doctoral Researcher

Djan'na Koubodana Houteta is currenlty a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) within the Enviromental and Geographical Science Department at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He is exploring how to build context-relevant and actionable climate change information aligned with the realities of urban management at the nexus of climate change, water and waste in South African cities. Before joining CSAG, Djan'na was AIMS-Cananda Postdoctoral researcher in climate science at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Rwanda, where he has contributed to the scientific development of the mathematical Science for Climate Resilience program. Previously, he worked in Lome (Togo) as research scientist at the Togolese Institute for Agronomic Research (ITRA) to enhance resilience and ensure food security in a changing climate and served as a visiting researcher in 2018 at the University of Bonn (Germany). Djan'na has a diverse academic background, holding a Ph.D. in Climate Change and Water Resources (2020) from the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use program (WASCAL) at the University of Abomey Calavi (Benin) in collaboration with the University of Bonn (Germany), he also earned a Master's degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences (2015) from the University of Paul Sabatier in Toulouse (France) and a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Lome (Togo). His research expertise spans various domains, including climate sciences, climate change, impact evaluation, and climate information service for key sectors such as agriculture, water, energy, and infrastructure. Djan'na's proficiency extends to hydrological modelling, river basin management, disaster risk reduction, and climate prediction, and including uncertainty quantifications. He has made significant contributions to the field, with scientific papers published in international journals and active participation in various international forums and conferences within Africa, South and North America, and Europe.
