The research programme has the overarching aim of increasing understanding of the changing climate risk in Africa. It has a regional focus on southern Africa, and particularly focuses on water and agricultural security. It brings together expertise in climate and weather risk attribution, statistical sciences, hydrological and agricultural sciences, and economics to address the following three domains of enquiry:

  • Attributing the human influence on climate risk
  • Attributing the human influence on the vulnerability of water and agricultural systems to climate risk
  • Attributing the socio-economic damages of climate risk to natural and human influences, as well as quantifying the return in investment in ecological infrastructure to reduce sensitivity of the water and agriculture sectors to climate risk.

Time frames: 2017- 2022
