MOSAICC is a set of highly specialized models, and is maintained and updated by the core group of MOSAICC developers. The University of Cape Town is part of the core group since 2016, mainly responsible for the crop component. When implementing MOSAICC in a new country, the experts in the country need to be trained by the experts from the core group. In the past the university supported Malawi and Zambia. The same expertise is not available in Sri Lanka nor in Asia, therefore the University of Cape Town will be a service provider with FAO in the capacity building process for MOSAICC use and agroclimatic indices development in Sri Lanka.
