The overarching aim of the AWAKE Project was to generate and disseminate knowledge and lessons learnt on climate change adaptation technology that enhances access to and sustainable management of water resources within three Sub-Saharan African city regions, Windhoek, Lusaka and Maputo.

CSAG collaboratively (with ICLEI) explored the efficient use of climate change adaptation technologies in water usages (e.g. irrigation, supply) or storm water/flood management in the Sub-Saharan African cities.  This included an assessment of the level of knowledge and awareness about adaptation technologies from local to national scale, the barriers to their adoption and actionable recommendations for enhancing the adoption of adaptation technologies in water usages and management while supporting improved relations between local African entrepreneurs, municipal officials and researchers.
